It was the night after the Adelaide Dinner so a gentle breeze was ordered
but unfortunately it was a little to light.
Five yachts came to the starting line; with a light Northerly and the last
of the flood tide all managed to round Norris buoy but with a dying breeze
it was always going to be slow to Air Canada. It was obvious that no boat
could finish the whole course in time for the Curry Lunch so the race was
shortened as the Commodore in Saurian rounded the mark. He must have had
his own breeze or it could have been the modifications that were made
overnight to his toe rail. One by one everyone retired and even Keith
Topley in his borrowed Folkboat and highly experienced crew could not
finish.
The last race in this series in on Sunday 18th October and the overall
positions are still very open It is not too late to enter for the final
race and there is a prize for each individual race winner.
