The Hunt Ball last month was a complete sell out within days; Royal London Members filled 3 tables at this great fun event with several Members seeming to have “adopted” various hounds by the end of the evening.

Meanwhile the Royal London Jazz Evening was standing room only in the “London Room Nightclub” by the time the evening started off with a delicious supper. Fantastic jazz band, Members dancing in the aisles, wine flowing, and a few late ferries home were missed! A truly excellent evening.

Members just back from the Submarine Museum Rally at Gosport report an excellent weekend (6/7th June) in conjunction with the RNVR YC, which included an exclusive tour of HMS Alliance, a WWII submarine and dinner at the John Fieldhouse Memorial Building and the weather – wonderful.

Bedroom Refurbishment: The bedroom refurbishment is now complete and when you are next in the Club and have a moment, I will be delighted to arrange a viewing of some of the excellent rooms. Members, Jeremy Seale and Simon Chides are particularly to be thanked for not only recommending colour schemes and fabrics, but for the many weeks they spent moving furniture, hanging curtains and together with the Commodore’s wife the quantities of shopping.

Accommodation Bookings: Please note: when you require accommodation at the Club would you please remember to book as far in advance as possible via. The House Manager on 01983 293153 as demand has increased.

Ground Floor Lavatory: The Club now has a lavatory located on the ground floor, just to the rear of the Dining Room. This is fitted out to disabled standards but is available for use by all Members.

New Front Door Key Pad: For security purposes it has been necessary to fit a numeric keypad to the inner front door for use mainly during the winter months. The code is available by calling the Secretary.

Visitors to the Club: The General Committee wish to remind Members that their Guests must be signed on arrival in the Visitor’s Book located on the reception desk and a notice has been published to this effect.

Nelson Cannon: Mr Anthony Churchill has very kindly researched, compiled and presented to the Club an illustrated history of the Nelson Cannon which is to be found in the Drawing Room and makes fascinating reading.
