Racing events are organised by different clubs at different times and the RLYC operates two weekends of shore line starts and one weekend of committee boat starts sponsored by Red Funnel. Individual members race enthusiastically in local, national and international classes. We regularly enter teams for national and international team racing events.

In recent years the club has hosted the Hunter 707, Etchells and Dragon South Coast Championships, the Britannia Challenge, the Sweden Yachts regatta, the Corby Cup, the Sirmoor Yacht Squadron Regatta, the Contessa 32 Regatta and the Windsor Cup.

We will as usual be contributing to Cowes Week Race management in the first Triumvirate with the Royal Southampton and Royal Thames Yacht Clubs. The club’s official day of trophies is the Monday of Cowes Week and we host Cowes Week Black and White Group prize giving during Cowes Week.
