Etchells Youth Team- Success in Corpus Christi
Published 08:55 on 2 Jul 2019
Congratulations to the Royal London Youth team on winning the Corinthian Class at the Etchells World Championships held in Corpus Christi, Texas. An amazing achievement against some of the best sailors in the World.
The Team, all Younger Members of the Club, were William Bedford, William Birch Tomlinson, Lucie Offord and William Heritage.
An excited Will Bedford emailed just after the race "Unfortunately, we were unable to catch the USA youth team up, but they sailed excellently and are fully deserving of their success. We did, however, place first Corinthian meaning that the RLYC youth team are the current Corinthian World Etchells Champions!"
He also added
"We are very pleased with how we have sailed and have learnt enormous amounts, knowledge that can hopefully be used when representing the RLYC in the future.
Thank you so much for all of the help with the campaign, hopefully you are pleased with the outcome and consider it a worthwhile cause for the RLYC to support."
Last year Will and his team representing the RLYC also won the Corinthian Europeans, and will be defending their title again in a couple of weeks.
Thanks to all who have supported the Team.
