Race Officer Volunteers

Dear Volunteer,

Like most sailing clubs we rely so heavily on volunteers to manage the sailing and racing programme and there is no doubt without your wonderful, continued efforts, yacht racing in the Solent would simply not exist.

Whether we are running racing from the RLYC Start Line or from a Committee Vessel there is always a variety of roles to be fulfilled including recording, spotting, time keeping, flags, radio operator, videoing, results input, mark laying, etc. Experienced race officers are most welcome but if you are a novice and would like to join in and learn a new skill then you are most welcome too. The form to volunteer for regattas in 2024 is available below.

Training and practice sessions are held in the first few months of the year, either in the privacy of the Clubhouse or "on the job" at some of the regattas. Join us at our first event of 2024, a talk by The Professionals about maritime communications afloat and ashore, on 21 January, where more information about volunteering opportunities will also be available.

CLICK HERE to complete the online form.
